Septagon Studios has launched the trailer for their new comic book, Masks. Written and Illustrated by Aaron Rintoul (The Never, Dollhouse) Masks is a complex story that revolves around depression and anger it’s a poetic exploration into the nature of identities of life.

This unique trailer combines live action scenes fused with Aaron Rintoul’s photographic art. It is unlike any comic book trailer ever done before. Masks is a photographic poem as well as an exploration into the nature of identity. Sara sees the world as a dream where the images and words string together a fantasy that she lives out through the eyes of the girls killed by a phantom serial killer. Sara is confused about her identity and the landscape she travels as she jumps from pieces of the victim’s lives, their dreams and fears, catching only abstract images of the murderer.

Comic book publishing studio eigoMANGA, has announced the upcoming release of a special graphic novel publication — Sakura Pakk Versus Rumble Pak Graphic Novel —  for the first time features a combination of shonen (male-oriented) and shojo (female-oriented) stories from Sakura Pakk and Rumble Pak.

Rumble Pak and Sakura Pakk are Original English-language (OEL) manga anthology publication series that showcases original manga stories created by artists from around the world. Rumble Pak imprint are geared for male comic book readers while Sakura Pakk's imprint is catered for female readers. Alan and Chris Herbert of HB Comics have guaranteed that no matter what happens their independent comic book Lazerman will release at least 12 issues, an unprecedented guarantee in the world of indy comics.

"Right before Superbowl III, as legend tells, Joe Namath was confronted by a rowdy Colts fan at a club. Being taunted about being an 18 point underdog for the upcoming Superbowl was too much for the hot-headed Namath, and the next day at a press conference he would go on to utter the most earth shattering eight words in football history...

"We're gunna win the Game, I GUARANTEE it!"

And thus, the GUARANTEE, as it would later be called, was born.

Yes, The Jets would go on to shock the world and fullfill the "guarantee" by beating the Colts...but what on EARTH does this have to do with Lazerman???"

And what that has to do with Lazerman is the fear of many readers of independent comics that if they get into a comic it won't last.  Either money will run out, or distribution will be cancelled, and the creators will be left with the hard choice of not continuing their book leaving readers without closure.  So Alan and Chris have decided to quell the hesitancy of potential readers by guaranteeing to print at least 12 issues of Lazerman.

ASYLUM PRESS SIGNS  DEAL WITH PARTNERS PUBLISHERS

GROUP FOR BOOK TRADE DISTRIBUTION

Dec 8, 2008 (Los Angeles) Frank Forte, publisher of Asylum Press, has inked a deal with Partners Publishers Group for distribution into the booktrade.  Partners Publishers Group has a nationwide customer base and has worked with a number of heavyweight independent comic companies and now adds Asylum Press to its fold.

"We are very excited to be working with PPG to bring our books to an entirely new audience outside the comic book store world," explains Frank Forte, "the graphic novel industry is exploding and we are poised to produce some groundbreaking new titles."

ASYLUM PRESS titles available to bookstores are Robert S. Rhine's Satan's 3-Ring Circus Of Hell, Deadly Are The Naked, Chestaclese Sketchbook and The Bomb by Steve Mannion.  Coming in 2009 will be the collected edition trade paperbacks of Warlash:Dark Noir, Farmhouse, a graphic novel by Elizabeth J.
