Submissions
If you have a book or any merchandise that would be marketable to the indie art / book / music / film fan crowd wherever they shop, you are welcome to show off your wares through our catalog.
Mailing us something without talking to us by phone or email first will probably not get you far, though. Drop us a line with your product info and we'll go from there.
Terms
If you are selling an original property, we will accept your product on consignment if approved by management. Once sold, we pay you at the standard 60% discount at the end of the following calendar month.
If you have... a) a licensed property with a proven market history, or b) a creator on your team or publishing label with a solid track record
... we can discuss purchase and credit terms. The standard discount for us to offer your product at competitive prices to retailers is 60% for books, 50% for DVDs, shirts, toys, etc.
Shipping costs to our warehouse are the responsibility of the Supplier.
Damaged shipments, short orders, etc, are handled on a case-by-case basis. If the number of damaged items is small, we may keep it for remainder or "ding and dent" sale. More extensive damage will require a replacement within 7 days.
Consignment suppliers are responsible for shipping costs if they request a return on their merchandise.
The Haven Difference
1. Ask any comic book retailer for their candid opinion of their primary supplier and you'll hear the same complaints from every one of them:
- Short orders,
- Wrong orders,
- Missing Products,
- Constantly changing discount structures,
- Headaches trying to get any of the above fixed,
- and most of all... an inability to get reorders on back stock -- even second printings of current titles!!
The tragic truth is, your books may not even be making it to the stores, and retailers can do nothing about it.
At Haven we treat our customers (and suppliers!) like business partners. Our customers know they will get what they ordered and be able to reorder whenever they need without having to pray for the best.
2. Ever hear about a comic getting dropped from Previews? How about a crtically acclaimed artist not getting into the catalog in the first place? It happens more than you want to know.
Not only are we a haven from red tape for retailers, we're also a safe haven for publishers who want to get their books out into the world.
Our submission process is painless and much more flexible on content. As for minimum sales requirements, if even one store orders it, we'll keep it in stock. Reorders will depend on the level of those sales, but we won't just cut you off. That is our pledge to you. We started as self-publishers ourselves.
